La Trobe Official Graduation Ceremony

Friday 18th March, the Montpellier Business School played host to the La Trobe University, Australia, for the Bachelor of Business graduation ceremony.

« A relief », « We couldn't wait for this moment », admit the Montpellier Business School students just after receiving their La Trobe diploma. « This ceremony honours the efforts of the students », comments Olivier Guyottot, Director of the Grande Ecole Master Programme – Montpellier Business School. And as for these efforts, there were very many. With hours of courses entirely in English, the business project, their year of the Montpellier Business School Bachelor or Master programme, they were not out of work… « We did it ! We are graduates of La Trobe and we deserve it », proclaimed Nahil Nabal, young graduate of the Bachelor programme, during his speech on behalf of all the students.
Accompanied by the Australian and French national anthems, the 127 students present, wearing the traditional gown and the graduate cap, came solemnly forward to receive their Bachelor of Business, made in Australia. More than 400 people, family and friends, came to the event, travelling from all over France, but also from abroad : « We have come from Rabat [Morocco] with eight members of the family to witness my son receiving his diploma, declares Adib Bargach with emotion, I am impressed and very proud of him.” Equipped with their camera and video camera, they took their place in the Main Lecture Hall which remained full during the whole ceremony.
A real « plus » for the students
The Bachelor of Business proposed via e-learning enables those who cannot spend a year abroad to improve their English language skills : «You are very pleased to obtain a foreign diploma when you do a Master sandwich course and cannot go abroad for one year », states Lysiane Lubrano, a Master student. The La Trobe diploma does in fact do more than « double the value of their final diploma », explains André-Pierre Rigoulet, teacher at the Montpellier Business School. It also enables them to: « acquire a sense of organisation that I didn't have before and to  synthesise huge amounts of information in order to be able to extract what is essential. », according to Damien Ramos, student in the Bachelor programme.
The prestigious university of La Trobe, present in the Shangaï survey, ranking the 500 best universities in the world among the 19 666 existing, paid tribute to its sixth year : « It is the best graduation ceremony that I have attended. Each year we see more and more group cohesion. They are more and more enthusiastic and since two years ago they even sing during the Marseillaise. », said a delighted Dr Wilkinson.
International recognition
« This celebration of the success of the students of the Montpellier Business School, recently awarded AACSB accreditation, indicates Lionel Rivière, Director of the International School of Montpellier, is a very important event, […] which is part and parcel of a profound process of internationalisation of our programmes. ». Worldwide recognition which is also a source of great delight for the Dean of the Australian university: « We are extremely pleased that the Montpellier Business School has obtained AACSB accreditation, it is a great mark of prestige and distinction. In certain cases, collaboration only takes place between schools having the AACSB label. As a partner, we too will benefit from the importance of this prestigious label at the international level. »
The strong international presence of the school, within the framework of this programme, of the worldwide exchanges, or again of the triple diploma which we are opening to Asian students is a real advantage for the students : «When we do the oral competitive entrance exam, the School's openness to the world figures very frequently in the candidates' motivation. », declares André-Pierre Rigoulet.
