New advances for Montpellier Business School
Two important new developments are milestones in our mission to train innovative managers of the highest level and to open our training to deserving students of all backgrounds.
First of all, Montpellier Business School rose in the Figaro and L'Etudiant/ L'Express rankings, placing 12th in the first, and 15th in "Recognition by Businesses" and 18th in "Academic Excellence" in the second. This external recognition of the academic and professional effectiveness of our school was based on a comparison of all French Grandes Ecoles.
In addition, a new service was created on November 2, 2011, charged with formulating policies concerning diversity and social and environmental responsibility. This new service will give a more formal structure to our long-term commitment in these areas.
Enabling handicapped persons and deserving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds access to a Grande Ecole in order to acquire an internationally recognized diploma -- to be open to diversity in all its forms -- are values that underpin all of our school's activities.
The length of our commitment to the values of diversity and openness as well as to global responsibility and performance is a testament to our seriousness, at a time when it is fashionable to merely pay lip service to these issues.
We decided to formalize our efforts in order to focus them and further establish these values in the culture of the school's community, employees, teachers, students and partners. The new service, directed by Caroline Cazi, comprises four people. It is responsible for the allocation of scholarships; programs for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as the "Cordées de la réussite" program; part-time jobs available for students in financial difficulty; and, of course, all programs ensuring that the school honors its values in its daily practices and promotes them to all local, national and international stakeholders.
We are proud of these recent developments and feel that the creation of our service for diversity and social and environmental responsibility will ensure that we do the utmost to support the values of Montpellier Business School.

In 2010-2011, while he was finishing his last year of the program, he competed at a world-class level. "The season was very difficult for me, though I had very good results at the beginning - it was the first time I was in the top five in Korea," said Pierre, 22. "But then I was injured in July, which changed my expectations. But I think I managed my injury well and was able to finish the season with a more than respectable ranking." Pierre finished 15th in the world (Slalom category) and 2nd in France.
"We had the opportunity to race during one of the best seasons this year," Pierre said. "We had competitions under diverse conditions - we really had to be ready for anything this year." Pierre is not one to rest on his laurels and hopes to place among the top 10 next year. In the meantime, he will devote himself to the last national trials of the season before beginning a more intensive rehabilitation program in order to begin training early next season.
