  Synthesis of the 41st Annual Assembly of Cladea - 10-13 sept 2006 Montpellier, FRANCE

The 41st Annual Assembly of Cladea (Latin American Council of Management Schools), co-organized by the Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier, was held from September 10 to 13th 2006, in the Convention Centre of Montpellier « Corum », France.

This year, the main theme was « Latin America and European Union : Opportunities and Challenges », divided into 12 areas of study linked with Business and Management :

Track 1 - Economics, International Business
Track 2 - People management and leadership
Track 3 - Marketing
Track 4 - Operations and Logistics
Track 5 - Strategic management
Track 6 - Accounting and control
Track 7 - Finance
Track 8 - Information Technologies and Electronic Trade
Track 9 - Services Management (Tourism, hotel, health services, public services…)
Track 10 - The role of justice as a factor for development and integration
Track 11 - Social Responsibility
Track 12 - Sustainable development


290 conferences have been presented by researchers coming from 33 different countries (16 European countries, 14 Latin-American countries, China, USA and Canada). Participants have also had the possibility to attend thesis presentations during the doctoral Consortium, to join round tables discussions as well as to listen to Latin-American and European universities’ presentations.

The Assembly (550 participants) has not only gathered Researchers but also Management Schools’ representatives, Presidents of Universities, Deans, Business and Management Teachers, International Relations Directors, PhD Students and companies’ representatives.

Cladea and The Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier have had the honour of receiving, during the Opening Ceremony, M. Eric Cornuel - Director General of European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) - who made a speech on Management Education in Europe.

Mr. Alejandro Toledo – President of the Republic of Peru (2001-2006) has also honoured us with his presence during the Plenary of Tuesday September 12th, which dealt with Higher Education and International BusinA?ess in Peru.

The award Ceremony took place during the Gala of Tuesday, September 12th. On this occasion, Mr.Talavera, President of Cladea, Mr. Borras, President of Montpellier’s Chamber of Commerce, M. Didier Jourdan, President of the Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier and Mr. Ochoa Diaz, elected as the new President of Cladea the same day, rewarded the prizes for the best paper of each track and for the very best paper of all tracks (see the list).

The 41st Annual Assembly of Cladea 2006 ended up on Wednesday, September 13th with the Closing Ceremony, chaired by Mr. Ochoa Diaz, new president of Cladea and Mr. Yvon Desportes, Head of International Relations of The Groupe Sup de co Montpellier.
