Joint MBA with the FUNDESEM, Alicante
The Sup de Co Montpellier Groupe has introduced a bilingual Spanish/English MBA programme in collaboration with Fundación para el Desarrollo Empresarial (FUNDESEM) in Alicante, on the Mediterranean coast of Spain.
FUNDESEM is a private foundation created by and consisting of companies, organisations and business-people. As such it acts as a centre of development, information and services for the business community in its region. Founded in 1965, FUNDESEM initially concentrated on professional development activities and then in 1992 took the logical step of initiating postgraduate Masters programmes. It is located in modern purpose-built accommodation just to the north of the city centre with good teaching and learning facilities. The School is close to the coast and a frequent Metro service connects it with the city centre.
The MBA programme offered is a truly joint one - jointly taught and awarded by the two institutions. It consists of a taught element - half of which is taken in each institution - followed by the submission of a dissertation - that can be supervised and written in either partner institution. The language of instruction is Spanish at FUNDESEM and French at Montpellier; the dissertation is written in the language of the institution supervising it. Students take the core modules of each partners internal MBA and work closely with students on these programmes, thus gaining an insight into the ways of business in two European cultures. This offers a good foundation for those wishing to develop international careers and work in the rapidly integrating European context, or beyond where familiarity with Hispanic and French business cultures would be an asset in many parts of the world.
Naturally, a high level of Spanish language competence will be required for admission to this programme in addition to the joint MBA entrance requirements. Intensive language support is provided to ensure that students are fully prepared in this respect before moving to the partner institution.
The course load is divided evenly between each institution. In addition to the course element at each institution, successful completion of the Programme requires the submission of a dissertation by the student. The dissertation may be written at either institution, and the student will receive academic guidance from a professor at the institution where the dissertation is written. The programme is of twelve months duration full-time, and may be started in Montpellier or in Allicante.
Programme Admission Requirements
Bachelors degree or equivalent, and a minimum of three years' work experience.
