Good news from one year to the next

This school year comes to a close on a very positive note. After years of reorganization, our efforts were rewarded with accreditation from the AACSB.

For the direction of our Business School, the accreditation encourages our development strategy. In particular, we will continue concentrating our curriculum and research in managerial innovation. For the faculty, it is a testament to their work in teaching and research.

Above all, I would like to emphasize the additional advantage this accreditation brings to our graduating class-a group of students who believed in our institution when this accreditation was only a promise. A Master's Degree from a Business School with AACSB accreditation is undoubtedly a ticket to a successful career in business management!

This newsletter includes testimonials from several entrepreneurs.
You will find an interview with Didier Giallo who, after 25 years in an international group, took the plunge and created his own company about 10 years ago. Recently, he decided to enrol in the executive MBA program. You will also discover testimonials from Gilles Maggiore and Yves le Reun, both of whom chose to have their professional experience validated through our VAE program.

In terms of entrepreneurial creativity, Ludovic Michetti, class of 2010 Bachelor program, is really standing out. His company, which creates inflatable furniture, has won many awards.

Beyond all of this good news, just a bit before the end of the year, we received the confirmation from AFNOR, an international and national certification network, of the Diversity Label of our group. From the admissions and diploma certification to scholarship distribution and professional networking, this certification is a testament to our commitment to diversity throughout our organization.

Wishing you all an enjoyable summer!

Didier Jourdan, Dean Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier Business School

Diversity Label: off we go for another 18 months !

The intermediate audit after 18 months took place in April 2011 and AFNOR has delivered its decision: the label is confirmed! The next step will be the request for renewal which should be submitted in October 2012. The intermediate evaluation was the occasion to highlight the progress of the Groupe in numerous sectors. The progress is worth noting: a differential of 7 points on 26 criteria which have progressed (11 up and 4 down). Indeed, if a well-performing action in 2009 is maintained at this level with no further change, it complies again in the following audit.

Attractivity and selectivity

The Grande Ecole Master Programme - ESC Montpellier has increased the 2011 BCE competitive examination eligibility barrier by 1.3 points. Despite the increased selectivity, we have registered an increase of 1000 candidates over the last 3 years.

The "eligibles"

The 2011 entrance exams are over! We thank our student "admission organizers" for their involvement and mobilization during these 6 weeks.

For the occasion, we decorated the campus with the campaign "A Grande Ecole in a Great Town" recalling the Groupe's values, the year abroad, the choice of the courses and the town of Montpellier. We also decorated our walls with giant characters, created by the Montpellier artist Al.

Admission exams: a question of ethics

In the framework of its values of openness and diversity, the Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier Business School has been a signatory of the Ethics Charter of the Chapter of Management Schools since 2007. The Charter promulgates a certain number of rules and good practices between Grandes Ecoles, notably concerning student recruitment, the admission exams, relations with the media and external communications. The Groupe has thus committed to never slander the other Grandes Ecoles and never mislead candidates on the nature of its programmes. To give as an example the juries of the oral entrance exams, the ethical code of the interviews prohibits the members of the juries to ask the candidates for which Business Schools they are eligible, in order not to influence the mark, and invites them not to take into account accents, the spelling of names, skin colour or the way candidates are dressed. The interest is to make this exam as objective, fair and transparent as possible.

A bronze Trophy for a "pepful" campaign

The 17 May, the Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier Business School won La Poste's bronze Trophy for Mail Media. This trophy distinguishes the creativity, innovation and effectiveness of our "kiwi" communication campaign on the apprenticeship tax. "It was very interesting to be challenged in this sector, and even more so by one of our partners," states Didier Jourdan, Dean of the Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier Business School.

The Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier Business School and the Montpellier CCIT were partners for a relocated match of the Rugby League Super League. In the framework of this partnership, reduced price tickets were available for our graduates and a VIP box offered to our partners. The Dragons Catalanais defied the Wigan Warriors, the 4 June this year, at the Yves du Manoir Stadium, in Montpellier.

"We are very pleased with this first edition in Montpellier and we fully intend to repeat the experience next year", declares Christophe Lévy. Indeed the stadium was a lucky token for the Perpignan rugbymen, who beat the Super League current champions by a score of 20 - 12. The Dragons Catalanais is the only French professional rugby league team, and the only one participating in the Super League, the largest European championship.

Candidates welcomed to the Excellence and pro App'titude (EAP) Course

The 16 candidates for the EAP Course came to prepare themselves on the campus the 8 July. Accompanied by their parents, they were welcomed by Didier Jourdan and the teams from the Consular Training Institute and the Groupe, and participated in two workshops on job-hunting techniques. They then had lunch with three student "admission organizers" from the Grande Ecole Master Programme, with whom they were able to talk about the Groupe and visit the campus. The candidates have all succeeded their high school diploma, some with distinction or merit. The only thing missing to be able to join the Course is a signature at the bottom of an apprentice contract. This is the reason why the Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier Business School has organized these workshops on writing a CV and an application letter and presenting their request to companies. The two institutions are currently mobilizing their networks of partner companies to help these young students get their contracts.
The EAP course is aimed at students having a vocational high school diploma and its objective is to enable them to continue high quality professionalizing higher level studies.
